Student - Venezuela

I was born in Venezuela in 1993. In 2002 my parents decided to emigrate to Portugal, searching for better security conditions and a future for me and my brothers. A decade and a half later, I am lucky to continue studying in Portugal. I find myself in a multicultural, innovative environment, that enhances my personal and academic growth. I know other realities, which makes me give even more value to the quality of higher education in Portugal.

Researcher - México

I love science and, throughout my career, I longed to be part of an exciting and innovative group of researchers, which contributes significantly to scientific discovery. With this in mind, and supported by a scholarship, I came to Portugal to join a prestigious laboratory. I found a vibrant place to investigate, supported by a welcoming team. In addition, in Portugal I found a beautiful and friendly country, where I always felt welcome.

Student - Brazil

I spent 6 months in Lisbon as a mobility student from Brazil. The place that I chose to spend the most incredible time of my life was Portugal, where I was able to be in touch and make friendships with people from all over the world. Having met wonderful people, alongside with the fact of living abroad and having experienced everything that I did, is something that I would strongly recommend someone if there is an opportunity to do so.

Portugal reacted quickly and professionally to the Covid-19 pandemic. When it was clear that schools and universities in Portugal had to close for reasons of prevention, the country created within a few days the conditions to continue teaching via online learning platforms and video conferencing software. Less than a week after the university closure was announced, almost all classes of the Master’s and Doctoral programs in Public Policy were online.”

PhD student - Croatia

I am a Croatian and PhD student in Art History since September 2019. I decided to study in Portugal because the course programs are very current, well adapted to the needs of each student, and at the same time twice cheaper than at the University of Zagreb. I am delighted with the complexity of the topics covered and the accessibility of teachers and researchers, who are always available and eager to provide support. So far an incredible experience!

PhD student - China

Choosing to study and research in Portugal was an important decision I made and that paid off. I had the opportunity to work alongside highly qualified teachers. In an environment that encourages internationalization, I started very early publishing in my specialty in reference international scientific journals.

When I opted for the master's degree abroad, I was sure of my affinity for public health and I was looking for a reference university to fulfill my dream. After researching I became convinced that Portugal responded to my expectations. I paid a visit to an institution and I had no doubts that was where I wanted to be. Today, entering the second year of the master's degree, I am convinced that I have made the best choice. I was also able to participate in international events, which allowed me to create a global network. Currently, and as a result of this training, I have been doing what I like on a daily basis, which is to increase the frontiers of knowledge in my scientific domain.
