Portugal showcases higher education opportunities at the L’Étudiant fair in Paris

The Institute for Higher Education, I.P. (IES, I.P.), took part in the Salon de l’Étudiant – Étudier à l’étranger in Paris on 10 and 11 October 2026, bringing together a delegation of 12 Portuguese higher education institutions under the Study & Research in Portugal brand.

Portugal’s participation aimed to showcase the diversity of its higher education provision to students and families exploring study opportunities abroad, raising the country’s profile as a higher education destination.

The Study & Research in Portugal stand brought together public and private universities and polytechnic institutions, enabling visitors to meet institutional representatives and obtain information about courses, entry requirements and study opportunities in Portugal. The delegation also included the Cap Magellan association, helping to strengthen links with the Portuguese community and people of Portuguese descent in France.

One topic that attracted particular interest was the priority admissions quota for Portuguese emigrants, family members residing with them and candidates of Portuguese descent. This quota allocates 7% of first-round places in the National Competition for Access to Public Higher Education to eligible applicants who meet the statutory requirements.

The Portuguese delegation comprised the following institutions:

·  CESPU – Cooperativa de Ensino Superior Politécnico e Universitário;

·  Estoril Higher Institute for Tourism and Hotel Studies;

·  Polytechnic University of Bragança;

·  Polytechnic University of Santarém;

·  Santa Maria Health School;

·  Universidade Lusíada;

·  University of Aveiro;

·  University of Beira Interior;

·  University of Coimbra;

·  University of Évora;

·  University of Leiria and Oeste;

·  University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro.

This participation forms part of the international promotion of Portuguese higher education led by IES, I.P., in cooperation with higher education institutions, to raise awareness of Portugal’s academic offer and strengthen its capacity to attract international students.

These initiatives are supported by Portugal 2030 through the COMPETE 2030 and Lisboa 2030 programmes.
