Mission Accomplished in Latin America: Portuguese Higher Education Concludes International Tour in Santiago, Chile

After traveling across Mexico, Colombia, and Peru — covering over 7,500 kilometers dedicated to promoting the excellence and opportunities of Portuguese Higher Education among Latin American students —, the national delegation concluded its internationalization mission in Santiago, Chile.

On October 10 and 11, the delegation, comprising 22 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) under the Study & Research in Portugal banner, took part in the international fair Expo Estudiante.

Highlights of the Mission in Santiago, Chile:

  • Work Session and Institutional Alignment: Activities began on October 10 with a working meeting with the Head of the Consular Section of the Embassy of Portugal in Chile, Manuel Magalhães, focused on aligning strategic perspectives and defining support mechanisms for academic mobility.
  • Diplomatic Backing and Presence: The mission welcomed the visit of the Ambassador of Portugal to Chile, Helena Bicho, who toured the national pavilion and met with representatives of the participating universities and polytechnic institutes.
  • Engagement and Interest from the Local Public: The event concluded with notable interest from Chilean students and families seeking detailed information regarding entry pathways and the national academic offering across all study cycles (Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees).

The Institute for Higher Education, I.P. expresses its gratitude to all participating institutions, the diplomatic representations of Portugal in the visited countries, and the thousands of students who engaged with the delegation throughout the entire tour.

Portugal reaffirms its commitment to global knowledge sharing, scientific cooperation, and welcoming international talent.
